DKRFC Ladies Section News

News Update 21st April 2008

DK ladies started training 2 seasons ago to challenge the gentlemen to an end of season match in aid of charity. A great day to celebrate the end of season and raise a great deal of money for various charities this has now become a yearly fixture. However the ladies enjoyed both the training and the team spirit so much (not to mention the social side!) that they have taken things a couple of steps further and have formed a team of their own.

' Friendlys' have been arranged until the end of the season, finishing with a sevens tournament which is being arranged by Five Ways Old Eds on the 18th of May. A cluster league is being put into place for the following season to guarantee regular fixtures for 2008/2009.

The ladies are always looking to recruit more players and welcome anybody to their training sessions on Monday evenings at 7.00pm - no experience is required just a great deal of enthusiasm! Players have to be 18 years of age to play in a match in any position but are welcome to train at any age with an eye to the future of the team. A girls tag team is also run on a Sunday morning at 10.30am. (contact Anne Keen on 07957107189)

For any further information on the ladies team please contact JAN BURBIE ON 07814 321709 OR 01384 401356.

The Ladies would like to express their thank to BREAST CANCER CAMPAIGN for sponsoring their new set of shirts and will be expressing this sentiment by donating the proceeds of this years charity fixture to Breast Cancer Campaign.
